Film Magazine Final

This is my final Film Magazine cover.

Main Image: The main image is of one of the main characters in the film.  I chose this person as she would best represent the attraction to the film as the plot is based around her and how her friends and boyfriend has betrayed her by cheating and lying.  The image is very informal and has no relation to the plot itself as I wanted my magazine to be based on the 'behind the scene' feature to the film and the article inside would be an interview with the character about what happens around the film.  The character also has her finger on her lip and as if she is making a 'shh' sound to the audience, this is because she is either keeping a secret from the reader or letting the reader in on a secret that they shouldn't tell.  Before the image was placed into InDesign the background was removed in Photoshop using a background removal tool and the edges were feathered to give it a more professional look.

Masthead: The masthead is 'CINE IT' which is reflecting the use of a cinema and how the magazine as seen the film ready to review and share with the readers.

  The font is also the font used to at old vintage cinema.  I felt that this font was relevant as the masthead included the word 'cine' and it was relevant to the magazine as a whole as it is a general film magazine.

Slogan: My slogan for my magazine is 'sharing your best incoming films'.  This is also placed at the top of the page as I wanted it to be near the masthead so when the reader see's the masthead they will instantly be enticed by the slogan as it may keep the audience intrigue to what films the magazine has to offer.  I kept the colours conventional by putting the background black and the writing white and blue so it will contrast and stand out on the page.

Background Image: When researching into existing film magazines for inspiration I found that many magazines used backgrounds related to the film itself.  For my magazine I used an image of a females bedroom as throughout my film trailer this is where the mise-en-scene is predominantly based.  However, I blurred the background out as I don't want too much attention towards it as I want the audience to focus on the main image and text.

Headline: The headline is based at the lower centre of the page which is conventional for many film magazines.  The headline of my magazine is '#disconnected' the films title.  I felt this should be the headline as film magazines are to promote incoming film, which was the main idea of mine so I made it in order for it to stand out to the reader by enlarging and putting it in the middle of the page. 

Cover Lines:  My cover lines 'inside scandals and secrets of Lucegans..' and 'unseen pics' are placed near the headline as the cover lines are related to the film.  I used these cover lines as they would intrigue the reader as they would also want to know what happens behind the scenes of the film and also on scene.  I used red for one of the cover lines to add an unconventional colour for my magazine.  This also makes the feature stand out causing the reader to look straight at it and the surrounding conventions.

Sell Lines:  Sell Lines are present to the left and right of my magazine.  They use different fonts, colours and different text sizes to make them more interesting and make the magazine look more busy.  My sell lines feature different films as a way of promotion which the magazine offers the most.  It also features existing film stars which would entice the audience to purchase the product as they may like a certain star featured in the magazine.

Pug:  The pug is placed over the masthead and is in a circle of stars.  Conventionally the pug would be a bold circle but when researching into Total Film magazine I found the circle of stars and thought it was unique as it was different and hadn't been used before.  The stars are blue, again sticking to the colour scheme of my magazine and features the words 'The UK'S best film reviews'.  I used the pug as a promotional tool for my magazine stating that the magazine is popular for their reviews they give.

Footer Bar:  The footer bar is based at the bottem of the page.  I kept with the colour scheme by keeping it blue.  My footer bar features names of popular film stars that are featured in my magazine which would entice audiences to buy the product as they would want to read about the well known actors.  I also used a large black dot the separate the names to avoid confusion.

I feel my film magazine front cover had a professional result.  I kept to the codes and conventions of what a film magazine should feature.  I also wanted to carry on with the colours of social media to link all my products together so my target audience knew what the film is based around.  However, overall I feel my magazine turned out well and is very effective in terms of quality of the main image an text.
